FAQs

  • Chiropractors are extensively trained in joint manipulations or adjustments. The goal is to get movement within a natural range in joints that may not be moving well. Adjustments may produce a cracking or popping noise called cavitation, the formation and collapse of air bubbles in the joints. Adjustments are one of many ways to impart a difference to the joints; for anyone nervous, there are effective alternatives.

  • Adjustments, when performed correctly and for appropriate areas, are not painful! Each area of complaint will be assessed before treatment to ensure adjustments are the right choice of treatment. If acuteness of injury, health history, or preference dictates otherwise, there are other options that can be used to gently move joints, such as mobilizations.

  • Yes! In a healthy pregnancy, chiropractic is a safe and effective way to help prevent and treat neuromusculoskeletal (NMSK) complaints - joints, muscles and nerves! Treatment for a pregnant person may be modified as the pregnant body changes and may require a gentler approach. Treatment often consists of joint mobilization, soft tissue release, and rehab.

Some chiropractors are trained additionally in identifying pediatric neuromusculoskeletal changes that may alter your baby's movement patterns through motor milestones. An infant's muscular and joint anatomy differs significantly from that of adults, so assessment and treatment are modified to a uniquely gentle approach. Assessment and treatment are dynamic and change as the demands on these little bodies also change during growth.

  • For any new patients or new injuries, an appointment will start with a health history and an assessment. This helps us rule out any red flags, and decide the best course of treatment for each patient.
Treatment will often consist of a combination of joint manipulations or mobilizations, soft tissue release, and exercise prescription.
If necessary, a referral may be made to another practitioner if additional assessment or treatment is required. Chiropractors often collaborate with RMTs, Physiotherapists, MDs, TCMs and Naturopaths - just to name a few!
