NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE · BURNABY & VICTORIA, BC

Root-cause care
for lasting health

At Oak Integrative, our Naturopathic Doctors take the time to understand the whole picture of your health — investigating the root causes of your concerns through comprehensive assessment, functional lab testing, and evidence-based natural therapies.

WHAT IS NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE?

Science-based medicine.
Whole-person care.

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary health care profession that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural healing practices. Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) are trained as primary care providers — completing a 4-year accredited medical program following an undergraduate science degree.

At Oak Integrative in Burnaby and Victoria, our NDs use a comprehensive intake process — including detailed medical history, physical examination, and functional lab testing — to identify the root causes of your health concerns rather than simply managing symptoms.

Treatment modalities include clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, acupuncture, lifestyle counselling, IV nutrient therapy, pharmaceutical prescriptions where appropriate, and more — all tailored to your unique health needs and goals.

EXTENDED HEALTH BENEFITS

Naturopathic visits are covered by most BC extended health plans. We direct bill to most insurers.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Naturopathic medicine FAQ

Yes — naturopathic visits are covered by most extended health benefit plans in BC. Coverage amounts vary by plan. We offer direct billing to most insurance plans.

Is naturopathic medicine covered by extended health benefits in BC?

Absolutely. Our NDs work collaboratively with your existing medical team. We will always consider your current medications when designing your treatment plan and communicate with other providers when appropriate.

Can I see a naturopathic doctor if I'm already on medication?

Prescription refills are available outside of appointments for a fee of $30 (pharmacy-directed) or $40 (email request). To request a refill, email office@oakintegrative.com with your name, date of birth, medication, and preferred pharmacy. If you'd prefer to use your extended health benefits, a 15-minute follow-up appointment is available with direct billing.

Is there a fee for prescription refills?

NDs spend significantly more time with each patient — typically 55-minutes for an initial visit — and focus on identifying root causes rather than managing symptoms. We complement your existing medical care rather than replacing it.

How is a naturopathic doctor different from a family doctor?

We offer a comprehensive range including DUTCH hormone testing, GI microbiome analysis, SIBO breath testing, mold exposure, heavy metals, food sensitivity panels, thyroid panels, and comprehensive blood work.
