What is Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy is a hands-on treatment that uses a variety of techniques to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and support overall wellness. At Oak Integrative in Burnaby, our Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) assess your unique needs to create personalized treatments that may include Swedish massage, deep tissue therapy, myofascial release, joint mobilization, or craniosacral therapy.

Whether you’re managing chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or simply looking to relax and reduce stress, massage therapy can help restore balance to both body and mind. Our Burnaby massage therapists work collaboratively with our integrative health team to ensure you receive holistic, results-driven care.

Benefits of Massage Therapy

Relieves Muscle Tension & Pain

Massage therapy in Burnaby helps reduce tightness, soreness, and inflammation by improving circulation and relaxing tense muscles. Our Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) use techniques such as deep tissue and myofascial release to ease chronic pain, release trigger points, and restore mobility—so you can move through your day with comfort and ease.

Reduces Stress & Promotes Relaxation

A relaxing massage in Burnaby can help melt away stress and support your emotional well-being. By calming the nervous system and lowering cortisol levels, massage encourages deep relaxation and mental clarity. Many clients leave their Burnaby massage session feeling refreshed, grounded, and recharged.

Improves Circulation & Lymphatic Flow

Massage therapy boosts healthy blood and lymphatic flow throughout the body, which supports detoxification, immune function, and faster recovery from muscle strain or injury. Our Burnaby RMTs use gentle, targeted techniques to enhance circulation and help your body feel more energized.

Enhances Mobility & Flexibility

If you experience stiffness or limited range of motion, massage therapy in Burnaby can help. Through joint mobilization, stretching, and fascial release, our RMTs help restore flexibility and movement—making it ideal for athletes, office workers, and anyone recovering from tension or repetitive strain.

Supports Overall Wellness & Balance

Regular massage therapy treatments in Burnaby can improve sleep quality, boost mood, and enhance your body’s natural healing processes. At Oak Integrative, our RMTs work alongside naturopathic doctors, acupuncturists, and other practitioners to support your health from every angle—helping you feel balanced, relaxed, and truly well.

How Massage Therapy Supports Your Health

Your Journey Begins Here

Getting started with massage therapy at our Burnaby clinic is easy and focused on your overall wellness. For your first visit, we recommend booking a 60-minute session to allow enough time for both a thorough assessment and your initial treatment. Our Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are required by the College of Massage Therapists of BC (CMTBC) to complete a detailed health history review and physical assessment before beginning any hands-on work. This ensures your treatment is safe, effective, and personalized to your specific needs. Whether you're seeking relief from pain, stress, or injury, our experienced RMTs in Burnaby will develop a treatment plan tailored just for you.

How Much Does a Session Cost?

We’re happy to offer direct billing to most major insurance providers to make your visit as smooth as possible. To help us respect everyone’s time, we ask for 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or changes. Your first late cancellation is on us, but a second will be charged 50%, and third or more will be charged the full appointment fee. The full appointment fee is charged to any missed or no show appointment. Thanks for understanding and helping us keep things running smoothly!

What to Expect During Treatment

During your massage treatment, your RMT will check in with you to ensure you're comfortable and that the pressure and techniques are right for your needs. For first-time visits, we begin with a consultation and assessment to understand your health history, concerns, and treatment goals. When you book your appointment, we’ll email you a secure online intake form—filling it out ahead of time helps us make the most of your treatment session. For follow-up appointments, we’ll do a brief check-in to track your progress and adjust your treatment as needed. You’ll always be properly draped, with only the area being treated uncovered. Whether your session is focused on relaxation, injury recovery, or pain relief, we encourage open communication so we can tailor the treatment to your needs. Our goal is to make sure you feel safe, heard, and well cared for at every visit.
